The rumors are coming fast and furious about Apple’s flagship professional applications, including Final Cut Studio. Released just last year, persistent reports indicate that Apple is reassessing how it distributes the applications suite to better match its growing customer base, including an emerging prosumer market. Indications are that any reshuffle is the results of a growing mobile base of users due to increased sales of more powerful MacBook Pros, including the i5 and i7 models, and less emphasis on desktop MacPros.

One rumor site reports that the company is reorganizing its Final Cut Studio management team to focus efforts on the larger prosumer laptop/mobile market rather than its desktop professional audience.  Reports are that Randy Ubillos, Final Cut’s original developer from Key Grip Macromedia days, has assumed control of the pro apps development team to retarget its efforts  to make the suite more appealing and useful to prosumers.  Whether the reports/rumors indicate a new targeted market for the pro apps, a rewrite of Final Cut Express, or a new video editing application suite altogether remains to be seen.
